Eric Balfour: Kiss Me Now

Eric Balfour: Kiss me now or lose me forever... #Haven5

Review: 5.07 Nowhere Man

Oh Haven. I'm about to give up.

On Haven Season 5 Episode 6 it seemed like they might have finally discovered a way to get back to a good place with this story when Mara sort of gave birth to Audrey Parker.

Apparently their understanding of what to do with both Mara and Audrey stopped there, because on Haven Season 5 Episode 7 the best they could come up with was sending Nathan into some sort of alternate dimension as a ghost, thereby ripping the lovers apart before they fully reunited.

A New Threat - Haven
The Trouble itself wasn't bad. It reminded me a bit of the previous episode of Doctor Who, but Nathan and his new friends have a chance to get back to real life. It was just very poorly timed. Audrey and Nathan needed an episode or two to rediscover each other and determine what to do with Mara before this Trouble surfaced.

While Nathan and Audrey did eventually reveal their feelings for each other, their actual romance was incredibly short lived. Audrey disappeared into the Barn/Bar and came out pretending to be Lexie, then she turned into Mara and William happened. They have had relations maybe a handful of times that we're aware of and as soon as they come close to finding their way back, Nathan is "killed" by a Trouble.

Thankfully, sense was made of Audrey's birth and she is no longer immune to the Troubles and she has none of Mara's memories. I wonder if at some point they will want to address the fact that Nathan had a son with one of Mara's personalities and not Audrey's.

Emily Rose Talks Mara-Audrey Aftermath and ‘Orphan Black’ Comparisons (Possible Spoilers)

'Haven' Star Emily Rose Talks Mara-Audrey Aftermath and 'Orphan Black' Comparisons

“I feel like we need a support group to talk about all our multiple personalities,” the actress jokes to TheWrap about “Orphan Black's” Tatiana Maslany

Syfy's “Haven” pulled off a twist no one saw coming when it separated its leading lady into two distinct — but identical — characters.

Series star Emily Rose, who now plays both Audrey Parker and her evil counterpart Mara, told TheWrap that she's glad she gets to keep both personalities for the foreseeable future

“I was a little scared to let Mara go,” Rose said. “Fortunately, I didn't have to do that.”

Mara and Audrey are now running around Haven, Maine, at the same time, though Audrey has a little more freedom, while her new twin sis is locked up in the cargo hold of Duke's (Eric Balfour) boat.

It's been a few years now since Audrey Parker was just Audrey, without any other personalities or memories plaguing her perpetual identity crisis.

“I had to re-familiarze myself with who Audrey really was and the strong aspects of her character,” Rose explained. “Mara is such a force to be reckoned with that I didn't want Audrey to come off as weaker, or as somebody who wasn't as sassy — because that's something we've always admired about her, too. I approached it like, Audrey's a little more pared down, a little more simple. Audrey really has a hold of Haven and knows what's going on there so it was making sure she wasn't afraid and always knew what she had to do. Always on a mission.”

WWE's Christian Joins Edge on Syfy's Haven (Spoilers)

In a casting announcement that totally reeks of awesomeness, WWE Superstar Christian - real name Jay Reso - will reunite with his lifelong friend and former tag team partner Edge (Adam Copeland), for a recurring guest arc on Syfy’s Haven, which airs Fridays at 7/6c.

As reported by WWE.com, Reso will play "McHugh" - one of Dwight’s (Copeland) oldest and closest friends. McHugh is smart, with ice water for blood, hammers for fists and a dogged sense of loyalty. McHugh and Dwight served as Army Rangers together, as well as members of The Guard. But McHugh left this life for a simpler one, determined to remain out of the line of fire. Dwight knows he could use the help of his fierce friend, but respects McHugh’s desire to live under the radar.

When Dwight finds himself in a romantic conundrum in the episode “Chemistry,” McHugh is the first one Dwight turns to.

Christian will appear in an all-new episode airing Nov. 28, and will reprise the role for two additional episodes airing later in 2015.

Steve Lund Returning to 'Haven' as the Colorado Kid (Exclusive)
The actor will reprise his role in the second half of Season 5 of the Syfy series
A fan-favorite character — not to mention dangling plot point — is returning to “Haven.”
Steve Lund, who played James Cogan, aka the Colorado Kid, on Season 3 of the Syfy series, will return to reprise his role, TheWrap has learned.

“Haven” revolves around an FBI agent named Audrey Parker (Emily Rose), who shows up in the titular small coastal Maine town and ends up discovering she has deep ties to the town and its supernatural roots.

Lund's Cogan, whose cold case murder kicked off Audrey's search for the truth, was revealed to be her son on the third season finale, and has been absent from the show since.

“Haven” is currently airing its fifth season, which was given a double order of 26 episodes, with the first 13 airing now and the latter half to air in 2015. Lund will appear on the second half of the season.
Lund is currently filming Season 2 of Syfy's vampire drama “Bitten,” where he is a series regular.Amanda Rosenthal Talent and Untitled Entertainment represent Lund.

5.06 The Old Switcheroo Part 2 Sneak Peak

Eric Balfour Talks Season 5

Eric Balfour

This season on Haven, things are going to be a lot different for Duke, played by Eric Balfour. Duke now has a myriad of other people’s Troubles stuffed inside him that he needs to be able to let out or die.

Balfour recently talked to the media about his character and the new season.

Balfour talked to SciFi Vision about how having multiple Troubles inside him will affect Duke. “there’s a lot going on with this new manifestation of what is happening to Duke. It’s going to be very hard for him emotionally, physically. I think, you know, honestly I don't know that his role is going to change.

“What makes Duke really special, at least for me, is Duke is who he is. You know? He doesn’t compromise who he is no matter what. So, I don't know that he’s going to change. Obviously the character, in a really great way, has evolved over the course of the series quite a bit. And the writers have done an amazing job of that.

“But I think the biggest difference will be Duke coming to terms with the idea that he is now part of the problem in some ways.”

5.06 The Old Switcheroo Part 2 Promo & Synopsis

Here’s the new Haven promo and synopsis from Syfy Network. This episode of Haven is titled, ‘The Old Switcheroo.’ This episode of Haven airs on FRIDAY, October 17th, 2014 at 7pm on Syfy.

In Haven 5×06, Mara capitalises on the fallout from the latest trouble, forcing Nathan and Duke to make a desperate and dangerous gamble to get Audrey back before they lose her forever.

Episode 5.08 Title Revealed + Audrey's Return Announced, Problems With Nathan (Spoilers)

Haven's Audrey Parker will be back to her regular self by episode 7.

Haven's resident Trouble-maker will take her aether and hit the bricks - either back to the void or into a casket - before the series heads into "Nowhere Man."

Before Mara (Emily Rose) makes her departure, however, she will hit peak form during "The Old Switcheroo" and "The Old Switcheroo: Part 2."

"While Mara is pretty cool in the first episode I feel like episode 5, 6, 7 she really, really hits true Mara form which is really exciting," Rose said, according to Spoiler TV.

As per usual, Audrey (Rose) and Nathan (Lucas Bryant) won't get to celebrate their victory for long. The "Nowhere Man" trouble of the week will separate the newly reunited couple, and Audrey won't have her usual trouble immunity to help her solve Haven's latest disaster.

The loss of Audrey's magic immunity to the troubles will lead her to call in outside help during episode 8, "Exposure."

Find out more when Haven airs on Syfy at a new day and time - Fridays at 7 p.m. ET.

Review: 5.05 “The Old Switcheroo Part I” (Spoilers)

Haven Season 5 Episode 5 The Old Switcheroo Part I (1)

It seems like a bad omen for the future of Haven that Syfy moved its time slot from Thursdays at 8pm to Friday at 7pm. Did this really need to be done midseason? The cast and Twitterverse have been working overtime to keep viewership up this season and switching the timeslot is a slap in the face to their efforts. What’s taken Haven’s Thursday slot? Reruns of Spartacus: Vengeance. Not cool.

Hopefully, you realized that the time changed and didn’t miss this week’s episode. A mysterious Trouble triggered a freaky Friday inspired switcheroo between the main characters, including Nathan/Duke, Dwight/Gloria, and Vince/Dave. The Trouble seemed to be connected with a secret shared by the two who were switched. For Nathan and Duke, it was the kiss that Duke and Audrey shared in Colorado. For Vince and Dave, it was Vince’s investigation into Dave’s adoption. As for Dwight and Gloria, we don’t know what their secret is and they didn’t seem to either. These last two had by far the most entertaining character switch. I loved the banter about their eating and bathroom habits.

While trying to uncover the source behind the Trouble, Nathan gets the brilliant idea to bring Mara along and treat her like Audrey. That seems to work and Audrey reappears and tells Nathan to leave her behind with Duke. She then tries to rekindle feelings in Duke related to the Colorado trip. She overplays her hand and doesn’t realize that Duke knows she’s Mara pretending to be Audrey. For someone who is just reading this review and hasn’t actually seen the show, this might sound completely hokey. It actually worked surprisingly well, though. A lot of credit needs to be given to Emily Rose who is masterful at transitioning between the various versions of Audrey.

Haven First Look: Alphas' Laura Mennell Plays Doctor With [Spoiler]

The doctor is in, when Alphas alum Laura Mennell joins Syfy’s Haven — and TVLine has your first look at how she quickly gets “up close and personal” with a couple of the Troubled town’s residents.

Haven now airs Fridays at 7/6c, starting this week, and Mennell makes her debut on Halloween in the recurring role of Dr. Charlotte Cross, a brilliant epidemiologist from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) who fears the Maine burg is on the verge of a deadly outbreak. Charlotte is further described as “a force to be reckoned with,” as the main characters are quick to discover. And as Dwight labors to keep Haven’s secrets hidden, the scientist uncovers a genetic marker that just might lead to a cure for the Troubles that torment the town.

This Friday in Haven‘s new time slot premiere: Vince and Dave journey to North Carolina to investigate the mysteries of Dave’s past, but their probing unearths a body swapping trouble that affects our people back in Haven.

Nathan & Duke To Face 'Unexpected Consequences' From Talking To Audrey (Spoilers)

Haven

Haven's heroes may have stiffened Mara's resolve against Audrey with their "Triple Exorcism," and the trio will have to work much harder reach Parker in the future.

Nathan (Lucas Bryant), Duke (Eric Balfour), and Dwight (Adam Copeland) teamed up at the end of "Much Ado About Mara" in order to bring Audrey's (Emily Rose) personality to the forefront, and while the men received some helpful information for their efforts, Mara now knows that Audrey has secretly been coming out to play.

Just like Nathan shooting Agent Howard, it seems good intentions have once again run awry.

"We are a show that largely lives in the world of unintended consequences," said writer Speed Weed, according to Revisiting Haven. "What do you do when you live in a magical world where you don't know the rules? It's not like a cop show...where you do things and have a pretty good probabilistic sense of what's going to happen. In Trouble land, you really don't. You don't have a handle on it. So you try your best option and the wrong thing happens."

Hopefully Nathan's next plan will work a little better - in "The Old Switcheroo: Part 2," he and Duke will make a "desperate and dangerous gamble" for Audrey Parker's life.

Review: 5.04 Much Ado About Mara

Finally. We're making some headway.

At least that's the case if headway means Dwight is on board that Audrey is tumbling around inside Mara, as well as even Mara herself. Other than that, it was pretty much the same old same old.

Each week long-time fans hold out hope that the show can bounce back, but Haven Season 5 Episode 4 isn't evidence of that.

Yes, Audrey is rattling around inside Mara. Some have commented that they never thought Emily Rose was a bad actress until Mara. I'm blaming the direction. She probably has no friggin' idea where they're heading with this story and it's difficult to play that well.
