Hit Syfy series Haven wrapped up production for its third season this month in Chester, Nova Scotia. Based on author Stephen King’s “The Colorado Kid,” the show is centered around a mysterious and supernatural town in Maine. Cast and crew were still on the set when they joined a one-hour Q&A media conference call on September 6, chatting about the characters and upcoming season.

Cast members Emily Rose, Eric Balfour and Lucas Bryant had plenty of memorable moments to share. And while they’re not new to the province, the group’s experience was a bit different this time around. “We knew more people, and so that created more opportunities to see Nova Scotia and really feel like part of the family,” says Rose, who plays FBI agent Audrey Parker in the series. The trio also noted Nicki’s Inn in Chester. “I will miss Nicki’s the most because I love Nicki,” says Balfour, Haven’s Duke Crocker. “But I think that actually speaks to a greater truth, which is the people that we work with and live with here and the community that we’ve made. You know, this summer has been the most fun we’ve had in the three years we’ve been here,” he says.

From surfing and tidal rafting to attending local weddings; the crew even had the opportunity to film in a well-known haunted building for its upcoming Halloween episode, directed by Jason Priestley. “Yes, it was creepy,” says Rose.

Chester is the main filming location for the show. The third season of Haven launches on Showcase September 28. “I think this season just feels like the show’s really got its game on,” says Bryant, who plays a local cop in the television series. “A lot of big questions and big mysteries are answered in a way that they haven’t been up until now,” he says.
