Cast Tweets And Reactions To Mid-Season Finale

During the mid-season finale of "Haven" actor Eric Balfour live tweeted and gave a great analysis of his character Duke's transformation.

I think it's one of the things people misunderstand most. Duke didn't want to help Mara, he just thought it was the only way to save #Haven

Everything Duke's done in S5 has been 4 the greater good even if it's meant being alone and  ostracized by his friends. Very different from S1

Spoilers: Duke’s New Troubles Out Of Control

'Haven'
Some mid-season finale spoilers have been revealed for "Haven." This Friday's episode will pick up where we left off after the major bombshell was dropped about Dr. Cross being Audrey and Mara's mother. We also saw Dwight fall for Dr. Cross, but the fact that she's not who he thought she was might change things between them.

Eric Balfour Talks Season 5

Eric Balfour

This season on Haven, things are going to be a lot different for Duke, played by Eric Balfour. Duke now has a myriad of other people’s Troubles stuffed inside him that he needs to be able to let out or die.

Balfour recently talked to the media about his character and the new season.

Balfour talked to SciFi Vision about how having multiple Troubles inside him will affect Duke. “there’s a lot going on with this new manifestation of what is happening to Duke. It’s going to be very hard for him emotionally, physically. I think, you know, honestly I don't know that his role is going to change.

“What makes Duke really special, at least for me, is Duke is who he is. You know? He doesn’t compromise who he is no matter what. So, I don't know that he’s going to change. Obviously the character, in a really great way, has evolved over the course of the series quite a bit. And the writers have done an amazing job of that.

“But I think the biggest difference will be Duke coming to terms with the idea that he is now part of the problem in some ways.”

Eric Balfour Thinks Series Is Ending, Where Will Story Leave Audrey, Duke & Nathan?

Haven

Eric Balfour believes Haven's days are numbered, but the actor is confident that the series will not leave its main characters hanging.

As the Syfy program enters its supersized fifth season (26 episodes to be aired as essential two separate seasons), Duke (Balfour), Audrey (Emily Rose), and Nathan (Lucas Bryant) have developed bonds that have almost eclipsed the importance of the supernatural happenings of the little Maine town. It is these relationships that Balfour hopes will thrive during the upcoming season.

"These characters have grown so much and whatever the sci-fi genre of it has almost, in my opinion, become secondary to these relationships between the character," Balfour explained to Good Nerd Bad Nerd at the 2014 Saturn Awards. "So [the writers] are really trying to honor that and explore those relationships."

When the trio does put an end to the troubles, what sort of lives will our heroes be left to live (if they survive, that is)? That is something the series' writers are currently trying to work out.

"What we're doing with what I think is going to be the last two seasons of the show is we're really going to dive into the relationships of these characters and what their world's are going to be when this is all over," Balfour informed Good Nerd Bad Nerd.
