"Curses can be lifted"

Duke: I want police protection around the clock. I pay my taxes.
Nathan: No, you don't.
Duke: Some of them.
Nathan:
No, you don't. Calm down, Duke. We'll find him.
Duke:
Calm down? Okay, I just saw the guy who's going to kill me some day. Do you know what it's like knowing how you're going to die? Man, I feel like I have a curse. (pauses) That came out wrong. Look...What're you... What're you smiling about?
Nathan:
Curses can be lifted.
Duke:
What the hell does that mean?
Nathan: I can feel. Started this morning.
Duke:
So you're saying if I punched you right now...
Nathan:
It would be the last thing you ever did, but yeah, I can feel it.
Duke:
You've been saying that since the fifth grade. Wow! So what's it like being back to normal?
Nathan:
Haven't really had time to process.
Duke:
You mean, uh...
Nathan:
No, I mean process.
Duke:
Well, I'll tell you what. You find this tattooed guy for me and I will introduce you to some very lovely ladies who would be more than happy to help you process. I...
Nathan:
Gotta get back to work.
Duke:
If you're worried about the cost, it's my treat.
Nathan:
That's very nice of you. Thank you, but no.

A Night To Remember: Partying with the Cast of HAVEN at San Diego Comic Con

By Tiffany Vogt

It was a special night as fans mingled and partied with the cast, producers and writers of the television series HAVEN at the Sidebar nightclub in San Diego last Thursday night.  As a last minute fun surprise, it was announced that HAVEN would be hosting a party and a few lucky fans were invited to join in the festivities.  It was the equivalent of winning the geek-lottery as it was a rare opportunity to talk with those behind the show that has captured the hearts and imaginations of fans across the globe.

Sponsored by Entertainment One (eOne), the night glistened with promise and anticipation.  The nightclub was decked to showcase the night’s featured show with posters and themed décor, as well as serving such fun libations as The Emily Pomtini and The Nathan Mojito.  Then taking a spin in the DJ booth, co-star Eric Balfour cranked out the tunes for the those mixing it up on the dance floor.  He jump started the set with a remix of the signature HAVEN theme-song, which was met with loud cheers and whistles from the appreciative audience.  Then, as Eric whipped the night into a dancing frenzy, his co-stars Emily Rose and Lucas Bryant laughingly posed with each other and a few lucky fans.

Joining in the HAVEN festivities and taking a turn on the red carpet to chat with press before mingling with fans were the stars of Cinemax’s FEMME FATALES, and other celebrities including Emu Phillips (“Yesterday Was a Lie”), Chase Masterson, Kipleigh Brown, director James Kerwin, Corri English (“Holliston”), Todd Stashwick (“The Devil Inside”) and hockey player Michael Guilbert.

The atmosphere was laced with expectation and exuberance as everyone celebrated HAVEN’s success and pending return for its third season.  For the 500 plus fans gleefully packed to the walls inside the Sidebar nightclub, mingling with stars Emily Rose, Lucas Bryant, Eric Balfour, along with producers Sam Ernst and Jim Dunn, and writers Brian Millikin, Nora Zuckerman and Lilla Zuckerman and more behind-the-scenes execs was pure heaven.  It was a night to be remembered and which will be forever etched on the hearts of those lucky enough to share in the momentous celebration.

The Cast at the Comic Con

Haven Virgin Diary – I want to kick its ass

Haven Virgin Diary I want to kick its ass [Haven Nathan chained up 425x239] (IMAGE)

What is causing the troubles? Who is Audrey? What caused the divide between Nathan and Duke? We got very little in terms of big picture answers in these episodes. If I was watching them week-to-week it probably wouldn’t have been as obvious, but it was difficult to ignore watching them so closely together.
From what I understand, the mystery takes a bigger role as the series goes on. I hope that is sooner rather than later.

Episode 4: “Consumed”
I made the mistake of eating lunch while watching this episode. The spoiled food, dead birds, and all the disgusting slop was not a good match.
The troubles have definitely come to Haven, though Nathan and Audrey have done an amazing job at keeping it quiet. The residents, even those who knew about the original troubles, don’t have a clue what is going on. With all the odd happenings that’s a bit surprising.

Wouldn’t the residents wonder why food was instantaneously spoiling and disintegrating in front of them? And, what about dead birds falling from the skies and dead fish in the sea? It’s going to become more and more difficult to keep the secret.

"You don't mean this cooler"

Nathan: I need you to take care of the chief.
Duke: What happened to him, Nathan?
Nathan: He died.
Duke: Nathan, I...
Audrey: I'm not going to bury your dad.
Nathan: You have to. You're the only one who--
Audrey: No, I'm not going to do it. I'm not going to waste a perfectly good cooler.
Audrey Two: What cooler?
Duke: You don't mean this cooler.
Audrey: Yeah.

Eric Balfour: Amazing ‪Haven‬ Fans

Amazing fans who waited in line for hours to Meet us. I'm so not that cool but Thank you all!

‘Haven’ Cast Take Guesses on Show’s Longevity

The main cast of the hit Syfy series “Haven” all have their bets on how long the series will last, and show producer and distributor Entertainment One is hoping actor Lucas Bryant (The Vow, “Queer as Folk”) has it right.

Fellow “Haven” actors Eric Balfour (Skyline, “24”) and Emily Rose (“E.R.,” “Brothers and Sisters”) are guessing five and seven seasons, respectively, while Bryant is going for a full nine.

After how popular the first two seasons have been with fans and critics alike — and with a third season set to debut in late September — the idea of that many seasons isn’t a stretch.

Centered on Rose’s FBI character, Audrey Parker, the series follows her investigation into the paranormal happenings of Haven, Maine, a refuge for the gifted and a place of constant intrigue and secrets, including secrets about Parker’s forgotten past.

“The audience tunes in because they like the dynamics of these characters,” Balfour said, speaking at the annual San Diego Comic-Con International. “My favorite episodes are the ones that have a direct impact on us.”

The third season of the series will debut in the fall, a change from the summer debuts of the first two seasons, and a show of faith in the series.

“It’s a double-edged sword,” Balfour said. “There are more viewers in the fall, but there’s more competition. It can be a blessing or a curse.”

Fans are urged to tune in regardless, as after two seasons of establishing characters and plot lines, season three “is the biggest we’ve done,” Balfour said.

“For fans who’ve been watching [the entire series] there’s a lot of payoff,” Rose said. “That’s one of the best parts about making it to the third season. We’re family. We’re friends.”

The third season of “Haven” will debut Sept. 21, and on Sept. 4 Entertainment One will release the second season on DVD and Blu-ray Disc. Bonus features have yet to be announced, though cast members are hinting at commentaries, deleted scenes and behind-the-scenes footage.

“I know I’ve given them at least three and a half hours of complete nonsense,” Bryant joked. “They can choose to use that.”

Game of Thrones Star to Guest Star on Haven

Iain-Glen.jpg

A Game of Thrones fan favorite will take a break from protecting his Khaleesi and step into the world of Syfy’s Haven.

Iain Glen (Downton Abbey; Ser Jorah on Thrones) will guest star on the supernatural drama as a man bent on vengeance after being trapped inside his house for 27 years (well, he shouldn’t have taken a job as a TV blogger then!).

The actor will appear in the sixth episode of the upcoming third season of Haven, which returns to Syfy on Friday, Sept. 21, at 10 p.m. Haven picks up immediately following the events of the season two finale with Audrey (Emily Rose) having been brutally kidnapped; Nathan (Lucas Bryant) warned against pursuing a romantic relationship with Audrey; and Duke (Eric Balfour) seemingly engaged in a fight to the death with Nathan after he discovers his family lineage is to kill troubled Haven citizens.

More News on Haven at SDCC 2012!

It was recently announced that "Haven," including the happy trio: Eric Balfour, Emily Rose, and Lucas Bryant, will be heading to SDCC this week. This news came as a shock to me, as I was not expecting it, but my shock swiftly turned into ecstatic joy when Entertainment One announced that "Haven" will also be throwing an unexpected shin-dig!

SyFy will have the streets up in smoke with their elaborate and publicized "Defiance" buzz, but it's nice to see that "Haven" will also have a chance to shine and answer to their growing fan-base that may be visiting for the Con. Tickets to the event seem to be hush hush, but as it seems, Syfy is going all out this year for "Defiance," there's no reason to believe that "Haven" hype will be limited at all and eOne's "Haven" cast party is definite proof!

Entertainment One announced today that the "Haven" party will take place at Sidebar San Diego on Market Street in downtown San Diego this Thursday, July 12th, from 8pm-11pm.

You can win tickets to the event by visiting the eOne booth at SDCC on Wednesday or Thursday. The cast is said to be at the party and you can bet the party will be "Haven" themed in its entirety!

No word yet as to whether or not "Haven" Season 2 will be sold prematurely at the Con (release date is not until Sept) but we can all hope for such good things. Also be aware that "Lost Girl" will be having a panel and a signing, which is definitely something to salivate over given the "Lost Girl" Season 2 finale.

SyFy is going all out this year and SDCC is going to be off-the-chain! Good luck to you all in your troubled "Haven" endeavors!

A Starter Guide to Haven

Back in 2005, Stephen King published a novel called The Colorado Kid. A few years later Syfy aired Haven, loosely based on the story.  Almost impossibly, the show managed to be even better than the book, and two seasons later, Haven has become one of the best but most underrated supernatural shows on TV.

Let me give you a little bit of background to get you started. The idyllic town of Haven is on the rocky coast of Maine because, as I said, this is based on a Stephen King story and the man loves writing about his home state more than any author since William Faulkner. The setting has the added bonus of giving the show some truly gorgeous scenery.

Haven is just like any other small town except for the fact that it's subject to the sort of creepy craziness which puts it squarely in the lead for the title of America's Next Hellmouth. This is because some of the citizens are plagued with supernatural powers passed down through family lines known by the locals as the Troubles. The Troubles are many and varied and can range from things like a useful ability to read minds to deadly poison sweat (no, seriously, his sweat kills people). In addition, we discover that the entire town has been touched by the Colorado Kid murder, an event that took place twenty-three years before the pilot with no resolution.

Emily's Co-Stars in Uncharted to Guest Star in Haven

For "Haven" star Emily Rose, it's all about the game: The actress has lured two costars of her hit video-game franchise "Uncharted" to join her supernatural Syfy show this fall.

Nolan North and Claudia Black, along with Rose, lend their voices to a trio of treasure hunters in the award-winning action adventure video-game series.

On "Haven," North will guest as an amnesiac named Anderson who awakes to find everyone else in the mysterious town asleep. Black will appear in the two-part episode "Magic Hour" as Moira, a bitter -- and possibly homicidal -- beauty.

Haven's third season picks up immediately after its sophomore finale, in which FBI Agent Audrey Parker (Rose) was kidnapped while the two guys in her love triangle, Nathan (Lucas Bryant) and Duke (Eric Balfour), battle each other in a deadly duel.

And an hour ago, Emily tweeted:

"Welp the cats out of the bag fans.Had such great time working w/claudia this wk! Nolan North & Claudia Black on Syfy's

Haven Virgin Diary - New Fan Point of View

'Haven' has been on my list of shows to catch up on for quite a while. And, only now am I finally getting around to it. If you've already watched the show, enjoy my ignorance as I visit the town of Haven for the first time.

Haven Virgin Diary The troubles are back [Haven Welcome to Haven Audrey and Nathan 425x239] (IMAGE)

When Haven first premiered, I don’t remember hearing much, if anything, about it. But, last year at San Diego Comic-Con, several TV bloggers mentioned that they loved it and were excited about the start of season two. I initially planned on catching up then and watching season two live, but it just never happened. I probably got stuck in DVR-hell or something and then the fall season started.

So, this summer I decided no matter what I was going to watch Haven. Of course it is now the beginning of July and I am only now starting it. I plan on watching the first two seasons over the next week if at all possible with my schedule. Every three or four episodes, I’ll write up some brief thoughts on the episodes.

If you’ve already watched Haven, I hope you enjoy my ignorance and journey through the mystery. If you haven’t watched the show, join me and watch it for the first time!

Haven Cast at San Diego Comic Con 2012!

He added:

The San Diego Comic Com will take place from July 12 to 15, at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, California.

"We Need to Be Honest with Each Other"

Nathan: I'm sorry I shut you out.
Audrey: Nathan, I'm sorry too. I... You're the one person that I can absolutely trust. And if you're gonna wear this, then we need to be honest with each other. (Audrey touches Nathan's hand) What's wrong? You felt that.
Nathan: Yeah. I can feel you.
Audrey: How long have you known?
Nathan: A while. I... I wasn't sure what to think about it... for a long time.
